First Lady Patience Jonathan through her NGO, The A. Aruera Foundation, has paid the medical bills of over 800 children to undergo heart related surgeries in India.
Among the beneficiaries are; Rabiu Obere from Nasarawa; Sultan Lamidi from Lagos; Salamatu Abdulsamad from Kano; Noah Ezeilo from Imo and Sita Omago from Akwa Ibom.
While receiving the last batch of the children from India, Dame Jonathan expressed her gratitude to God for the safe return of each child, noting that since the process started in 2013, no death has been recorded.
"We have treated more than 800 patients with no record of casualty; I’m happier than you, the parents" she said
She disclosed that a 250-bed hospital facility dedicated to the treatment of children with heart related diseases was under construction and would soon be commissioned.
"We are partnering with our international friends from South Korea, India and America who will run the hospital.’’
