Families Of Slain Polio Workers Get N1m Each From FG
The Federal Government has donated N1million each to families of 10 polio workers killed in Kano last week.
The donation was announced by the Minister of State for Health, Dr.
Mohammed Ali Pate, who led a Federal Government delegation to the state
on Thursday to condole the families of the victims of the attack.
The minister said the decision to visit the state over the incident was
arrived at the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
He said families of each of the deceased will be given N1million, while
survivors will receive N200, 000.
Accompanied by the Director General, National Primary Health Care
Development Agency, Dr. Ado Muhammad, the Emir of Argungu Alhaji
Isma’ila Mera, Emir of Dass Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu and other traditional
rulers, Pate described the killing of the health workers as
“unfortunate” and sad, vowing that the attack will not deter the country
from its resolve to eradicate polio.
The minister also called on security agencies to provide adequate protection to health workers.
It would be recalled that the state government and Dangote Foundation
had donated N500, 000 each to family members of each deceased in
addition to N250, 000 each to all the injured.
but is this the solution to the security challenges we'v been experiencing for a lomg time now?
The necessary measures need to be taken to prevent this from re-occuring,we shouldnt wait for things to happen before we could do something.
all these money the FG spend/waste in the name of compensation, should be used in purshasing security equipment to enable the security operatives do their job well.
