Three Governors, Rotimi Amaechi, Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu of Rivers, Jigawa and Niger State were reported to be among the Governors who were absent from the meeting of the Peoples Democratic

Party (PDP) Governors' Forum in Abuja.
The meeting which was held yesterday was holding for the first time following its formation a fortnight ago.

The other governors reported to have stayed away from the meeting too were Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano, Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi and Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto.

According to the reports, seven PDP governors: Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa), Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Abdullahi Ahmed (Kwara), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Ramalan Yero (Kaduna) and Alhaji Garba Umar (acting governor of Taraba) were in attendance while the Deputy Governors of Abia, Bauchi, Ebonyi, Benue, Adamawa, Plateau, Katsina and Kogi states represented their bosses.

The meeting was held at the Akwa Ibom Governor's Lodge at about 8pm, with its agenda among others focused on the formal organisation of the body.

Although the chairmanship of the larger Nigeria Governors' Forum was one of the issues on the agenda meant to be discussed, it was put on hold due to the absence of most governors.
