A former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Osun state governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Bukola Saraki, former chairman of the PDP, Abubakar Baraje as well as some PDP state governors have officially formed a new PDP faction.
Governors of Sokoto, Kano, Adamawa, Jigawa, Niger, Kwara and Rivers states are the seven governors who have aligned with the new PDP faction.
The group is protesting the actions of the organisers of the ongoing Special National Convention that has seen a majority of the aspirants disqualified, where over 50 of the 75 aspirants loyal to opponents of President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition within the PDP, have been disqualified from vying for the 17 available National Working Committee, NWC, positions of the party.
