ASUU:Partial Academic resumes at UNIABUJA

Partial academic activities have resumed at the mini campus of the University of Abuja.
According to Daily Trust reporter who went round the school today, observed the presence of student and a few lecturers. Although most of the lecture halls were empty as at the time of visit, students were seen milling around the premises.

Kayode Bamikale, a 200 level student of the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences who spoke with Daily Trust said his class had so far had three lecture sessions since the 2nd of December.
“So far we have had three lectures. The first was on Monday last week, another on Wednesday and then Friday. We are here today because we expect to receive more lectures” he said. Another student who spoke with Daily Trust said she had been in the hostel since the 1st of December, although so far, no lecturer has showed up to teach her class (300 level, Department of chemistry).
At the permanent site of the University along the Airport road, students of the Centre for Distant Learning CDL were seen continuing with their last semester’s examination.
Another interesting aspect of the University of Abuja ASUU chapter is the existence of a splinter group known as “The Integrity Group”.  A lecturer who is a member of the group and does not want his name in print told Daily Trust reporter that his group has already commenced academic work since the 2nd of December. He said though his group believes in the ASUU struggle, they felt it was high time they allowed reason to prevail for the sake of the nation’s education sector.
