COEASU Strike which has been ongoing for 3 months now seems not to be coming to an end as the lectures in Nigeria’s Colleges of Education are set to continue with the strike as an Expanded National Executive Council, ENEC, meeting held on Saturday ended in deadlock. Meanwhile COEASU is an acronym for College of Education Academic Staff Union.
According to report, the ENEC meeting was held at the Niger State Collage of Education, Minna.
Speaking on the outcome of the meeting, the Chairman of COEASU at the College of Education, Zuba, Abuja, Ahmed Bazza, told reporters that the lecturers resolved to continue with the strike.
“The union has resolved to continue the strike action due to the failure of government to address the issues in contention as earlier stated,” Mr. Ahmed said.
The COEASU Strike commenced on December 18, 2013 after several failed meetings with government representatives with the aim of achieving proper funding of the colleges and adequate welfare for lecturers.
