President Goodluck Jonathan, has just flagged-off work on the second Niger Bridge.
At the ceremony in Onitsha, Anambra State, Dr Jonathan said the bridge aside serving as important link between towns in the region, the second-Niger bridge will further boost commercial activities in the south-east zone and beyond.
While dispelling any notion that the project was a campaign strategy, President Jonathan said necessary funds have been made for the timely completion of the project.
He implored the governors and people of the area to provide conducive atmosphere for the construction.
