National Confab: Delegates Demand more Money

Barely a week into the National Conference, some delegates are already coming up with creative ways to demand more money from the Federal government.

According to a report by PUNCH, some of the delegates held an informal meeting shortly after their inauguration by President Goodluck Jonathan where the welfare of their aides was discussed. The delegates wanted the federal government to pay for their aides.

While some delegates at the informal meeting said that the issue of extra allowance for aides be raised during plenary,a few of them were said to have disagreed.

One of the delegate who was interested in pushing for the extra allowance is said to have given an example of the members of the National Assembly whose aides he said, were being paid by the Federal Government.

At the inaugural sitting,Mrs. Valeria Azinge, conference secretary had told delegates that there was no provision for personal aides. She had also told them that the Federal Government had monetised their accommodation, transportation and sitting allowances.

Each of the delegates are to receive N12m for the three months exercise plus a free lunch at the conference venue.

Meanwhile,NBA Chairman Mr Olisa Agbakoba(SAN) and Pastor Tunde Bakare has declined collecting any form of payment from the ongoing National Conference, describing the conference as a call to service and charting new course for our country....now that's what I call true patriotism. Come to think of it, is N12m not too much???? Just asking sha#lipsealed
