Reps reject inclusion of NSCDC, Fire Service on diplomatic passports list

The House of Representatives has rejected the inclusion of Controller-Generals of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Fire Service from the list of agencies to be issued diplomatic passport.

Adopting a report of its committee on interior, the House how-ever retained the Comptroller-Generals of the Nigeria Immigration Ser-vice, Nigeria Customs Service and Nigeria Prisons as part of those to be issued diplomatic passport.

The report is a product of an amendment to the Passport Miscellaneous Act, 2004 by the committee.

Chairman of the committee Rep Umar Bature (PDP, Sokoto), while presenting the report informed the House that the amendment was aimed at clearly defining persons eligible for the issuance of diplomatic and official passport.
