Rev. Jesse Jackson pleads with ASUU to call off strike

Renowned Civil Rights Activist, Rev. Jesse Jackson who is visiting Abuja, to attend and  deliver a Keynote address at the inauguration of former Federal Commissioner of Information, Chief Edwin Clark Foundation.


Rev. Jesse, while speaking with Journalists at the Airport shortly after arrival, Jackson who hailed chief Clark for coming up with the idea of setting up a University of Technology in his native home, Kiagbodo at 86,  he also hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for creating such an enabling environment for a dream of such to be realised.

On the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Rev. Jesse Jackson however urged the striking lecturers to have a rethink and return back to the classroom.
At the airport to receive him on behalf of Chief Clark were Senator BASSEY Henshaw, former member, Federal House of Representatives, Cairo Ojuogboh; Chief Richard Lamai; member Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Executive Committee, NEC, Mrs Ifeoma Agbomah.

President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to serve as the Special Guest at today?s event, the formal launch of N25 Billion NAND fund raising dinner for the proposed Edwin Clark University of Technology, ECUT, Delta State and  the Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Centre for Youth Orientation and Development, Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, just as former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon will chair the event.

The programme which is being put together by the Edwin Kiagbodo Clark Foundation will take place today at Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel. Abuja.
