Anambra Election: Why election result was declared inconclusive - INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the electoral exercise has declared the Anambra Governorship election inconclusive, stating that the total number of cancelled votes is more than the difference between highest scorer of votes and the runner up.

This disclosure was made by the INEC officer in Anambra, Professor James Epoke, who explained that the decision was reached owing to the fact that the number of cancelled votes is more than the difference between the number of votes polled by the winner and the runner-up.

More so, supplementary polls are to hold where elections were cancelled.

Professor Epoke had earlier given a figure of 113,113 as the total number of votes cancelled.

It can be recalled that in the results earlier announced by INEC at the end of collation, the APGA candidate Mr Willie Obiano had scored 174,710 votes while Mr Tony Nwoye of the PDP polled 94,356 votes and the All Progressives Congress candidate Chris Ngige had 92,356 votes.
