Lagos govt to close Mile 2-Badagry express way on Sunday

The Lagos State Government has announced planned closure of the Mile 2, Lagos ? Badagry Expressway to traffic, Sunday December 1, 2013, to allow for the on-going construction work on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Project. Announcing the planned closure, Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa, said the measure was to allow for the installation of the pedestrian bridge beam at Mile 2 Lagos rail mass transit station, spanning across the expressway.

Opeifa said the beam launch would leave an impact on the traffic flow on the Badagry bound carriageway and traffic from Apapa ? Oshodi Expressway linking the Lagos ? Badagry Expressway.

He also explained that traffic during the duration of the launch, from 7a.m. to 12 noon will be limited.

The Lagos-Badagry Expressway will be closed to traffic from Orile to Maza Maza Bridge with traffic being diverted via the construction lane. Traffic joining the Badagry Expressway from Oshodi-Apapa Expressway will not be able to access the Badagry Expressway and will therefore be diverted via the Festac link road to rejoin the Expressway at Festac," he said.

The state government had earlier closed the road on October 20, 2013 in the first phase to carry out similar work on the project.
