Oyinlola sues PDP over suspension

Suspended National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola has filed a legal action against the party before a federal high court in Abuja, challenging the propriety of his suspension.

In the suit filed by his lawyer, Prof. Awa Kalu, SAN, Oyinlola is asking the court to set aside his suspension.

In the suit, Oyinlola argued that due process of the law was not followed before he was suspended from the party.

He is also asking the court to take a judicial notice of the fact that his suspension was against the constitution of the party, saying that there were procedures to be followed before any party member could be suspended.

He is, therefore, asking the court to reverse his suspension from the party.

Oyinlola was suspended by the PDP on November 11, 2013 alongside the Chairman of the new PDP, Abubakar Baraje, his deputy, Sam Jaja and Ambassador Kazaure.

The suspension was to prevent Oyinlola who had threatened to resume office, following the verdict of the Court of Appeal in Abuja which ordered his immediate reinstatement as the PDP national secretary.
